The Unison small business subcontracting program is designed to promote growth amongst the following small business categories.

We value the relationships we have established with our existing small businesses and welcome additional participation from any new small businesses that would like to work with us.

Mission

The mission of our Small Business Program is to ensure that small business concerns including service-disabled veteran-owned, veteran-owned, small disadvantaged, historically underutilized business zone (HUBZone) small, and women-owned small businesses, have the maximum practical opportunity to participate in providing services and supplies to meet the purchasing needs of Unison consistent with efficient and cost effective performance of our contracts and in accordance with applicable federal laws.

Policy

It is the policy of Unison to develop and maintain a small business program to promote small, service-disabled veteran-owned, veteran-owned, small disadvantaged, historically underutilized business zone (HUBZone) small, and women-owned small businesses when procuring goods and services. It is our goal to reach out to the small business community and to find viable responsible companies who can meet our purchasing needs.

Definitions

Small Business Concern means a concern, including its affiliates, that is independently owned and operated, not dominant in its field of operation and does not exceed the size standard assigned under the North American Industry Classification System as determined by the Small Business Administration. Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concernmeans a small business concern not less that 51 percent of which is owned by one or more service-disabled veterans and the management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more service disabled veteran with permanent and severe disability as defined in 38 United States Code 101(2) with a disability that is service connected as defined in 38 U.S.C. 101(16).  (For publicly owned business see definition below.)

 

Veteran-Owned Small Business Concern means a small business concern not less than 51 percent of which is owned by one or more veterans and the management and daily business operations of which are controlled by one or more veterans and does not exceed the size standard assigned under the North American Industry Classification System as determined by the Small Business Administration. (For publicly owned business see definition below.)

 

Small Disadvantaged Business Concern means a small business concern that is owned by one or more individuals, the net worth of each individual does not exceed $750,000 after taking into account the applicable exclusions set forth at 13 CFR 124.104©(2), has received certification as a small disadvantaged business from the Small Business Administration (SBA) and is included in the SBA’s Pro-Net data base and does not exceed the size standard assigned under the North American Industry Classification System as determined by the SBA. Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Small Business Concern means a small business concern that is located in a HUBZone area, which is an area with statistically proven economic needs, and the business appears on the List of Qualified HUBZone Small Business Concerns maintained by the Small Business Administration.  See http://www.sba.gov/hubzone. Women-Owned Small Business Concern means a small business concerns that is a least 51 percent owned by one or more women and whose management and daily operations are controlled by one or more women and does not exceed the size standard assigned under the North American Industry Classification System as determined by the Small Business Administration.  (For publicly owned business see definition below.)

 

Publicly Owned Small Business Concerns means a small business concern that not less than 51 percent of the stock is owned by one or more of the specific individuals identified in the above definitions.

 

Notice

A company is subject to penalties and remedies for misrepresentation of business status as small, service-disabled veteran-owned, veteran-owned small, HUBZone small, small disadvantaged, or women-owned small business for purpose of obtaining a subcontract.
